The Estate of Trianon is a unique place in the Park of Versailles. It is home to the Grand Trianon and Petit Trianon palaces, as well as the Queen’s Hamlet and a variety of ornamental gardens. Because this estate was initially designed to escape from the Court’s rigid etiquette, the visit is fascinating and very different from the Château de Versailles.

Created in 1683 by Jean-Baptiste de la Quintinie, the Potager du Roi was a vegetable garden made to provide the Court with fruits and vegetables. It was also an experimental place to grow rare fruits and vegetables, or to produce them earlier than their usual season. Nowadays, the place is open to the public. It is a stunning vegetable garden, growing over 400 varieties of fruits and vegetables.
